We live in hectic times, and the need to create an emotional escape room is becoming necessary. So many of us have an imperfect yet rewarding relationship with technology, but sometimes the pendulum swings too far toward imperfect. Lately, to create balance, I have started engaging in periodic digital detoxes, where I put my phone away, get distance from the algorithm, and find ways to connect with the people and activities I love. While this sometimes includes literally touching grass, often it involves touching a cozy blanket, drinking good coffee, and reading a good physical book or writing in a pretty journal. Here is a list of books and items to create a dopamine-giving emotional escape room.
